YORK - ENGLAND's ETERNAL CITY

Light & Land Workshop

Founded by the Romans, later called Jórvík by the Vikings, York has played an important role in England’s history for close to 2000 years. It is a city of great beauty, enticing visitors with its timeless charm, which makes it a photographer’s dream. Our workshop will be based in the medieval centre, where we can best appreciate York’s rich and colourful character. Short strolls will take us down narrow streets, little changed since the Middle Ages, and some of the easily missed Snickelways. We will spend some time photographing in York Minster, and in the Museum Gardens, where we’ll capture the stark silhouette of the ruined St Mary’s Abbey and the beautiful colours of autumn.

If you are interested in this workshop, please get in touch here for the waiting list. Bookings will open once the situation around Covid-19 has become clearer.

DOCKLANDS TO DUSK

Light & Land Workshop

As the river Thames snakes its way from the Isle of Dogs to Westminster, it serves as the focus for our Docklands to Dusk workshop. We will use the day to explore both old and new in London’s skyline, starting in Docklands and finishing just after sunset near London Bridge.

'Manhattan' style skyscrapers towering over medieval churches, docks, water, bridges - our programme for the day is an architectural feast for all styles of photography, with opportunities to shoot long exposures, water abstracts and whatever other opportunity comes our way... I will be on hand to offer guidance on composition and to help you master new skills with your camera, no matter whether you are a beginner or at a more advanced level. You are sure to go home with a memory card full of fine new images and some new skills to use in the future.

When Night Falls - a London Workshop

Light & Land Workshop

London provides photographers with endless opportunities to capture the hustle and bustle of street life, architecture, grand views and unique, unrepeatable little moments in the life of its people. The city never sleeps, and when the day fades away and the lights come on, a whole new world appears – and it brings with it new and exciting opportunities to make interesting photographs.

During our workshop, we will explore how London changes when night falls. We will photograph iconic views across the river and will discover how the appearance of some of the city’s most recognisable buildings is transformed when they are lit by artificial light.
